It's been hard to keep the balance between documentary and character as both have started to go in production at the same time but I have made some small progress on documentary the past week - I've been working on making the booklet from my animatic so that I can film that part of the sequence, flicking between the pages so that it flows with the narration. I have also made some painted versions of the test I made to go with Ewan's audio originally. I started off by tracing the shape I'd planned out whilst making the test onto coloured paper and then filled the outlines in with white paint.
I then put these pages together in Photoshop over the photos I wanted to place them in and used Select > Colour Range to take the white paint out of the coloured paper. I used the Timeline window to put the animations together.
They're a little more jolty than I want them to be but I think they still give off the right feeling about a memory of a person and their noticeable absence when they're gone.
