Animation for Clients - Week 8 + 9

For the past two weeks I have just been working on my rough animation, and am now over halfway through! I've really enjoyed animating freely without caring too much about the aesthetics of the animation at the end, knowing I'll go over it if I have time. I didn't animate anything over the summer break and it's been great getting back into it and reminding myself that I can animate in 2D quite successfully. Here's what I've animated so far:

I have missed out a couple shots simply because I could do with the soundtrack to animate those to (like Pansy playing guitar at the beginning), but I should have the soundtrack from Donny by Friday if all goes to plan and we can go from there! I'm pretty pleased with my progress so far, I feel like I've gotten through a good portion of the film and captured the characters how I imagined them. I'm especially happy with my animation for Dodge Cat getting up on the window sill, jumping over the drums, Pansy trying to pry him off the wall and her reactions to the books falling in her face for the last time.

I looked up quite a bit of reference material for Dodge Cat, mostly for the jumping shot, as I needed to ensure he'd look enough like a real cat does when they jump but also keeping to his Dodge Cat-ness.

This video helped a lot with my cat research! As well as some simple profile shots of cats walking along to assist when I was animating him over the keyboard :)

I'm a bit behind my schedule as sometimes I do just need breaks from constantly animating over my screen and need to allow myself to have those breaks otherwise I end up trying to work without getting anything done over several days, which happened a little in the last week after I had such a successful week beforehand.

I have 7 more shots to do, plus going over my first shot of the wheely chair as it needs to be slowed down a lot. Hopefully I should get these done in about 2 weeks time, although this could change due to my animating stories project ramping up a bit more now.
