This week I tried pulling in more of the surroundings to be in tune with the music of the bard. I did this by attempting to animate some foxgloves swaying and a squirrel flicking its tail. I think that the squirrel went okay but the foxgloves didn't move realistically or smoothly, although I like using foxgloves as they look like bells which adds a nice musical look to them. I used reference for both of these details, photos for the foxgloves and a video found on youtube for the squirrel:
This is the cut shot of the foxgloves swaying:
I also added the part of the sequence where the bear begins to sway with the music, which I added to to change up the shots a bit with close ups of the bard looking around plus the nature shots mentioned before. Here are the results of the week:
I'm happy with the progress I'm making through the story but I would like to go over a couple shots I've added. There's a point where you can hear the pause for breath during the music and I haven't made my bard do the same, and although I prefer the leaves' movement to the flowers I still think it lacks interest. I could try to make them move more at some point, but I think I will continue with the rest of the film before coming back to it. I'm glad that I changed the shots from my animatic here , as I feel like it brings in the setting some more and make a difference from the usual back-and-forth between the bard and the bear. I would like to get to the bard handing the lute over to the bear within the next week. Here's the rough storyboard I drew out like last week for the next steps of the film:
It's a little jumbled as I changed the order after starting to draw it out but it's helped to guide me through the new shots and explore the different angles I could get of the characters.
