This week we split into groups so that smaller teams are focused on one priority - venue, marketing and fundraising. I'm in with marketing which includes promotional material like posters and stickers, website, legacy and branding. For the most part we discussed the name possibilities, considering things that could either link us to animation or Scotland. This featured a lot of animation keywords like frames, inbetweens and Scottish wildlife, but in the end, after talking to the rest of the group, we've come to Lightbox Collaborative. We all like the light and positive image that 'lightbox' creates, and it's more professional to reach out to people as a collaborative group than a load of students. It's not set in stone yet, so we're all still considering whether there are any other ways we could expand on the title to fit us better.
Now we have a vague idea of what our collective is going to be called we can start exploring potential logos for the team. I started some very loose doodles of ideas that could form into our logo.
I enjoyed scribbling out different ideas, imagery and fonts, and am looking forward to seeing what other people have come up with next week! In the meantime we are all looking at creating a group Pinterest board to get inspiration for the look of our brand. I've also played about in Photoshop to explore more neon-looks, as there was discussion of neon lights in the Friday tutorial.
I think the neon look's pretty fun, as is this sort of overlapping of colours effect, could be interesting to see if there's any way to include an image within this style for a logo design or whether it should be kept as text only. Once the logo is nailed down we can go ahead and find a colour scheme for our branding as well as thee general style.
We've also considered that we should designate one day in 10x10x22 where we all create promotional material. We'd have several films to advertise ourselves then, and display the range in our styles and methods.
Other than this we were thinking about what everyone will need to produce for the website and the exhibition itself. Although we are doing this as a team we will also have our own individual brands to promote with personal profiles on the website and business cards by our work at the event. We also all need to consider what we'll be showing of our work, I think the piece I'm most likely to offer is my stop-motion puppet, Elio, the lion, and the film he appeared in. I would also potentially offer some of my concept drawings as it's part of the process I enjoy and I know we're wanting to show progress work like storyboards and sketches.
